Clinical Sexology training course

Sexuality accompanies us throughout our lives. Its maturing process ends with the end of adolescence, but the experiences lived in that period and the social education, norms and customs condition the way of perceiving and feeling the variables that characterize it: affections, desire and love.

Thus, and continuing this bio-psycho-social perspective raised by Wilhelm Reich, we affirm that sexuality is linked to the psychosomatic structure of each person and, therefore, we affirm that there are different “human sexualities”, questioning the vision of classical sexology that advocates for a unique model, as it could happen in the rest of mammals

Our goal in the field of primary and psychosocial preventive intervention is the recovery of the natural flow of sexual or libidinal energy, and its self- regulated process, source of love, health and vitality.

When that is no longer possible, within our clinical praxis, we try to enhance the pleasure capacity, addressing the current and historical factors that might have constrained it, and that are reflected in the characterial rigidity, respiratory inhibition, chronic neuromuscular tensions, etc. We define this model as “character-analytical psychotherapy”, and we apply it to the field of clinical sexology.

In this postgraduate training course, we will go over the main contributions to the field of sexology, from Freud to Master -Johnson and Kaplan, to then focus on those developed by W. Reich and our own clinical experience, in the field of so-called sexual disorders or dysfunctions, and relationship conflicts related to this issue.

To do this, we will combine theoretical sessions (didactic lectures, audiovisual material, educational and clinical cases and learning of intervention techniques, with experiential workshops (connecting with one’s own body and character, and exploration of personal beliefs and attitudes towards sexuality).
